Nonprofits at 2:00 (formerly Nonprofits at Noon) brings nonprofit professionals and other community leaders together in conversation about relevant issues. These gatherings provide you with timely information, meaningful discussions, and actionable insights – and provide the space for nonprofit professionals and leaders from other sectors to come together to discuss important issues in the community.
Session Details
At this gathering, Karen Ball, CCVO President & CEO, will moderate a panel discussion reflecting on the past year of the pandemic; who has been left out of recovery; and how we can collectively work to build back better, emerging as stronger communities. Panelists will share their insights and perspectives related to the impacts they’ve experienced in the areas of economy, equity, culture, and community wellbeing.

Prior to joining Momentum over 11 years ago, Jeff worked with several community organizations in Calgary including CUPS and the United Way.
Jeff graduated with his bachelor's degree in Political Science and master’s degree in Environmental Design at the University of Calgary and has also completed a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Mount Royal University. During his time with Momentum, Jeff has also completed leadership development programs at the Harvard School of Business and Ivey Business School.

Shivani is a consultant, producer and skillful communicator with over 25 years of professional film, tv, media and arts experience. She is a dedicated advocate for equity within mainstream media and the cultural sector. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in Radio & Television from Ryerson University, and has worked in all genres of media production; in every role from the creative to the business side. Her portfolio includes groundbreaking museum content, award-winning television & film, cutting-edge theatre, international visual arts affairs, social media initiatives, and festivals that cultivate new works.

Dr. Alina Turner is the co-founder of HelpSeeker, a social enterprise focused on scaling systems innovation to accelerate social change across Canada.
A researcher and entrepreneur, Alina led the implementation of Canada’s first Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) and designed Calgary’s Housing First System of Care. She is a Fellow at The School of Public Policy, University of Calgary and serves on the Board of Directors for A Way Home Canada and the Alberta Rural Development Rural Advisory Board on housing and homelessness.
HelpSeeker uses machine learning, data science, and social innovation to help people access services that improve their lives. HelpSeeker is also a Partner of the Systems Planning Collective, alongside the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness and A Way Home Canada.
Meaghon Reid

Executive Director at Vibrant Communities Calgary
Meaghon Reid started as the Executive Director of Vibrant Communities Calgary in September 2019, bringing a diverse range of experience in organizational leadership, advocacy, collective impact initiatives and policy change. Prior to working at VCC, Meaghon was the ED of the Brenda Strafford Centre, the largest second stage domestic violence shelter in the province, where she experienced firsthand how the critical work being undertaken under the Enough for All Strategy has positively impacted the lives of people experiencing poverty. Before moving to Calgary, Meaghon was the Associate Vice President of Mental Health First Aid USA at the National Council for Behavioral Health in Washington, DC where she led the expansion and promotion of the adoption of the Program across the United States and into critical legislation. Meaghon also worked as the Director of the Mental Health First Aid program at the Mental Health Commission in Ottawa, Ontario. Meaghon is a proud graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland where she studied economics and political science.
