Relaunch Grant Program for Nonprofits
On June 28, the Government of Alberta released more information for funding for businesses and nonprofits who are facing financial barriers to relaunch.
The Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant offers financial assistance to Alberta businesses, cooperatives, and nonprofit organizations that faced restrictions or closures from public health orders, and experienced a revenue loss of at least 50% due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds intend to mitigate the impact of lost revenue and address the higher operating costs that many businesses and nonprofits will face.
The funding can be used to offset the costs nonprofits are facing as they reopen their doors. Up to $200 million will be invested to allow nonprofits to access up to $5,000 to offset relaunch costs. This funding may be used to purchase necessary supplies, such as PPE and cleaning supplies, to reduce the risk of virus transmission, pay rent or employee wages, or to replace inventory.
Applications for the Grant are now open and will remain open until August 31, or for four weeks following the start of stage three of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy – whichever is later.
Full program details, including additional eligibility criteria, application days by region, and how to apply, are outlined in the program guidelines.
