E-consultation Findings from the Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector

Last year, the Senate of Canada created a Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector to explore the state of charitable and non-profit organizations in Canada and the rules that regulate the sector.

The Committee has been examining the impact of federal and provincial laws and policies governing nonprofits in Canada and has been listening to the testimonies of organizations and individuals from across the country.

During the fall of 2018, the Committee ran an e-consultation where they received responses from 695 Canadian charities and non-profits. They recently released an infographic detailing their partial findings and insights into the sector including number of employees, concerns about finding and keeping volunteers, and a lack of data collection around diversity.

CCVO will keep you posted on final reports and recommendations. To view the infographic, please click here.
