City of Calgary Request for Proposal to Support SAVE Program
On November 29, 2019, City Council approved a 0% tax rate increase for 2020 and, as a result, directed Administration to identify and implement at least $74 million in operational savings.
The City of Calgary, through the Solutions for Achieving Value and Excellence (SAVE) program, is looking to set out a strategic approach to cost-savings while maintaining or improving service delivery, and targeting savings of $24 million by the start of 2021 and $50 million by the start of 2022 from tax-supported budgets.
The SAVE program is looking to hire an external consultant to help provide additional perspective on potential efficiencies and opportunities to implement savings by 2022. The consultant is to be onboard with the SAVE program team in spring 2020, and will report to the Priorities and Finance Committee with monthly updates.
