CCVO Welcomes New President & CEO

CCVO is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Ball as President & CEO. Karen joined the CCVO team in June as the Interim President & CEO and we greatly look forward to her ongoing leadership of the organization on a permanent basis.

“The Board was unanimous in our decision to extend a permanent offer to Karen as our next President & CEO,” states CCVO Board Chair Cyril Elbers. “In addition to her influential work in the Alberta nonprofit community, Karen has shown exceptional leadership as Interim President & CEO over the past four months. The Board and I are confident that Karen is the ideal leader for CCVO, and her enthusiasm and dedication to the sector and reputation as a strong community builder are second to none.”

Ms. Ball served on the CCVO Board of Directors until 2019 and is an established community leader and builder with strong ties to the nonprofit sector in Alberta. Karen’s extensive experience supporting the nonprofit sector includes leading a consultancy practice, Karen Ball and Associates, under which Karen built multiple strategies and plans for the advancement of the nonprofit sector for clients such as the Government of Alberta, City of Calgary, Calgary Stampede, University of Calgary and municipalities across the province. Karen is a certified fundraising executive who has held senior roles with Calgary Arts Development, AU Arts, the Banff Centre and has served on the Premier’s Council for Culture, Calgary Olympic Bid Exploration Committee, and currently sits on the board for Active YYC and is a member of the Rozsa Arts Management REAL Faculty.

I’m excited to join CCVO permanently and continue working to advance the prosperity of our communities. CCVO’s work in supporting a strong voice for the nonprofit sector has never been more important and I look forward to championing this voice moving forward.
