Nonprofits Eligible for Alberta Jobs Now Program 

Nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for the new Alberta Jobs Now program – a grant that covers 25 percent of an employee’s salary for a 52-week period up to a maximum of $25,000 per employee. The funding for the program is split evenly between the province and the federal government through Ottawa’s Workforce Development Agreement.  

Nonprofit organizations can apply for funding for up to 20 new employees. To be eligible, organizations must use the funding to hire unemployed Albertans into a new or vacant position. The grant can be used to cover salary or training costs. Employers who hire persons with disabilities will receive a grant for 1.5 times more than the amount they receive per other new employees.  

The first round of applications will open on May 20 at 9:00 AM. A second intake will open on September 15, 2021, and close on December 31, 2021. The government plans on announcing a third intake at a later date.
