New Grant for Black-led Organizations

The federal government has established a new grant, “Supporting Black Canadian Communities Call for Proposals.” The grant will provide capital assistance to Black organizations in Canada to build capacity to better fulfill their missions and better serve Black communities.

Nonprofit organizations that are Black-led – defined as groups where at least two-thirds of leadership positions are held by those who self-identify as Black – can apply for up to $100,000 for equipment purchases, and/or renovations or retrofits of existing workspaces or community spaces to improve their functionality. Equipment purchases include computers, software, smart boards, or kitchen appliances.

The funding is administered through Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), and the application period is between June 26 and July 27, 2020.
