Federal Election 2019: Political Parties Respond to YYC Matters

Mayor Nenshi presented YYC Matters, an initiative dedicated to keeping Calgary issues atop the federal election agenda.

The City of Calgary surveyed political parties to see where they stand on civic issues of importance to Calgarians. The answers received from the parties have been posted on the website today, in efforts to raise quality dialogue about Calgary’s future with federal election candidates.

The online platform focuses on three key priorities:

  • ·Promoting economic recovery: strategy to support Calgary’s recovery, support Calgary’s responsible energy industry, clear and fair regulatory review process for infrastructure, improve federal-municipal relations, investment in public infrastructure, and immigration as a driver for economic growth

  • Honouring commitments to Calgarians: Gas Tax Fund, cannabis revenue, and public transit funding

  • Supporting Calgarians: mental health and addictions, and Made-in-Alberta mortgage rules
