Deadline Extended for Calling Annual General Meetings for Federal Not-for-Profit Corporations

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry issued an order extending the deadline for calling an annual general meeting (AGM) for all federal businesses, not-for-profit corporations, and cooperatives. This extension also applies to the presentation of financial statements.

The order extends the deadline for calling the AGM to the shortest of the following options:

  • 21 months after the previous AGM and no more than 12 months after the last financial year-end; or

  • December 31, 2020.

The deadline for presenting financial statements is extended by six months. Directors may now present financial statements at the AGM no more than 12 months after the organization’s last financial year-end.

All eligible organizations will automatically have this extension applied — no application is necessary. For more information, click here.
