CCVO Responds to Province's Energy Efficiency Program Announcement
The Government of Alberta today announced the Non-Profit Energy Efficiency Transition Program, created to provide $1-million in funding to nonprofits to complete energy efficient audits.
CCVO views today’s announcement about funding for audits and planning as a positive first step and a key component of a larger program to support nonprofits with energy efficiency. The up-front cash outlay for audits and infrastructure poses a barrier for nonprofits wanting to take action on climate change. We also recommend that the Province consider introducing financing instruments in the form of grants or loans that amortize costs over the payback period of capital investments in energy efficiency.

Our September 2016 submission to Alberta's Energy Efficiency Panel, which includes a recommendation that the Province introduce a fund to support nonprofits with the transition into a carbon pricing regime.
