Applications Open for New Civil Society Fund
On December 3, the Government of Alberta announced a new $20 million Civil Society Fund for nonprofits. The Civil Society Fund will be provided over the next three years, with $7 million budgeted for 2020-21 to support nonprofit recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Civil Society Fund is part of the government’s commitment to “harness the power of civil society and support an effective, lasting recovery of the civil society sector.” Proposals must demonstrate how the project can support transformational change for their organization or the broader nonprofit sector and must align with either system infrastructure, civil society research and data, organizational transformation, or financial sustainability and resilience. Projects that are not eligible include projects focused on the ongoing delivery of programs or services. Organizations can receive funding up to $1.5 million per project.
The deadline to apply for funding is January 20, 2021. More information and details of eligibility rules and application process can be found here.
