Alberta Nonprofit Survey 2020: We want to hear from you!

By Marokh Yousifshahi, CCVO Policy Analyst

CCVO’s annual Alberta Nonprofit Survey (ANS) launched on April 27! The ANS is here to support your organization by amplifying your voice in advocating for the nonprofit sector.

This year, we celebrate 10 years of conducting the Alberta Nonprofit Survey and gathering meaningful data about nonprofits across the province. The survey is an opportunity for your organization to share the impact that COVID-19 has had on your nonprofit or charitable organization and help tell the story of the Alberta nonprofit sector.

CCVO recognizes the resilience and hard work of the nonprofit sector both before and during these unprecedented times. Many of you are responding to the rapidly evolving crisis, along with increased demands for existing services. We understand that some organizations providing critical services may not be readily able to respond due to the extraordinary impact of the pandemic. The ANS provides an opportunity to share the impact of the pandemic on your organization, along with your views on supports needed at both the organizational level and sector level, as we move forward on the road to recovery.

There are approximately 176,000 Albertans employed in the sector, contributing more than $10 billion in GDP to the provincial economy – making the programs and services provided by nonprofits a crucial component of the economic engine that ensures Alberta is a thriving, vibrant province.

The 2020 Alberta Nonprofit Survey aims to understand not only the current and near-term impact of the pandemic, but also the longer-term impact – including recovery. Our survey will be supported by qualitative data through personal perspectives gathered from focus groups and interviews, which will be conducted with nonprofit professionals across Alberta. We seek to understand the impact of the pandemic and therefore better understand the recovery process that will be required. Our goal is to provide robust data to nonprofits, government officials, foundations, and other stakeholders about the current economic conditions facing nonprofits and the need for flexible, long-term support.

The Alberta Nonprofit Survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Please take a moment to respond to the survey and share it with your networks starting now and through June 5.

The more responses that are gathered across the province, the stronger our voices will be for advocating on behalf of a vibrant and essential nonprofit sector. Thank you in advance to all of the organizations for continuing to provide for our communities.
