Alberta Election 2019: Political Parties Respond to YYC Matters

The City of Calgary has launched a new website, YYC Matters, in advance of Election Day on April 16. The City wants both voters and political parties to “keep City priorities top of mind” in preparing for the election. YYC Matters has surveyed political parties on how they plan to address Calgary’s priorities and issues. The answers received from the parties have been posted to the website today, in efforts to raise the quality of dialogue about Calgary’s future.

The online platform focuses on four key priorities:

  • Honouring commitments to Calgarians (Springbank Reservoir, Green Line LRT, City Charter)

  • Supporting Calgarians (Low income transit pass, affordable housing, Alberta-based mortgage rules)

  • Promoting economic recovery (Support and grow business, made-in-YYC tourism strategy, cannabis revenue sharing)

  • Closing Calgary’s infrastructure gap (Fund critical projects, flood protection and mitigation).

For more information and to view how the political parties have addressed the needs of Calgarians, visit YYC Matters.
