AGM Timeframe Extensions for Nonprofits and Charities

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Corporations Canada now provides a simple way for nonprofits and charities under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (CNCA) to request an extension of the six-month timeframe for holding their annual general meeting (AGM).

In order to remain compliant under the CNCA, nonprofits and charities have the option to:

  • Hold a virtual or a partially virtual meeting

  • Sign a resolution in lieu of a meeting

  • Delay calling the meeting

Please click here for details regarding each of the above options, including the forms to extend your organization’s AGM.
