2020 Adjustments to the One Calgary Service Plans and Budgets

The City of Calgary reviews services on an annual basis to ensure they coincide with the wants and needs of Calgarians, are financially sustainable, and to make any appropriate adjustments if required. On July 16, 2019, City Council directed Administration to prepare scenarios to tax-supported services as part of the 2020 budget adjustments. Three scenarios were developed, including: a pre-approved 3.03% tax increase which would cost the typical single-family resident taxpayer an additional $5.10 per month, a 1.5% tax increase which would cost the typical household $2.50 per month, and a 0% tax increase. Cuts for services such as transit and community facilities, are included in both the 1.5% tax increase and the 0% tax increase scenario.

On November 25, citizens had the opportunity to provide their feedback on the proposed plan for next year’s budget during an all-day public hearing at city hall.

City Council will begin deliberations on November 26. CCVO will continue to monitor any developments that impact the nonprofit sector.
