Annual Report
2020-21
2020-21 was a difficult year for everyone - individuals, organizations, and communities. We thank you for your continued support throughout the pandemic, as we all tried to find new ways to continue to support each other. CCVO couldn't have done the work we've done over the past year without the support from people and organizations like you.
CCVO honours and acknowledges the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani); the Tsuut'ina; the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations; and the Métis Nation (Region 3); who have lived on and cared for these lands for centuries.
OUR COMMITMENT TO TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
As part of the nonprofit sector and our role in serving communities, it is the responsibility of both nonprofit organizations and individuals to learn and acknowledge the disturbing truths of the Indian Residential School system and take deliberate action toward reconciliation. At CCVO, we have much of our own work to do. We are committed to our continuous personal learning journeys – to open our eyes, minds, and hearts to the truths that are evident.
We recognize that the very sector in which, and for which we work has been founded on colonial systems, and that these systems are inherently discriminatory against and exclude Indigenous peoples and communities. In 2021 and beyond, we will be focusing more intently and intentionally on centering our work and values on truth and reconciliation. We’re committed to working toward a more inclusive nonprofit sector that supports and benefits all people who live on the lands of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 Territories.
Thank You.
A JOINT MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR AND PRESIDENT & CEO
The entire CCVO staff and Board are united in our overwhelming appreciation and respect for Calgary and Alberta’s nonprofit sector, in its ability to mobilize under extremely challenging circumstances and rise up to meet the increasing demand for programs, services, and supports. We are proud to call ourselves advocates for and champions of Alberta’s incredible nonprofit sector. Read the joint message here.THANK YOU FROM CCVO STAFF AND BOARD
Over the past year, we were been reminded again and again of the resilience of the nonprofit sector and the dedication of its staff, volunteers, board members, sponsors, and supporters. We thought about all the things we wanted to say and do to honour and acknowledge the sacrifices you've put forward for others, but we were brought back to two simple, but sincere, words:
Thank you.
